We also do not charge any additional setup fees or travel fees.   I feel confident that our testing protocols will save you money as well as production time.

4. How many people can OTG test on the mobile hearing unit?

We test 4 to 6 employees at a time on our 6-person mobile trailers equipped with large hearing rooms, Sonex Foam, and acoustical earphone cups for outstanding testing results.  However, our CAHOC certified technicians can work up to 20 hrs per day to accommodate your company's schedule and if needed, we can provide 2 mobile units at your site to test 8-12 employees at a time or you can request our 4-person mobile unit equipped with 4 private booths.

5. What shifts will OTG work?

We will work any combination for any shifts on any days of the week to accommodate your company’s working schedule.

6.  How are  my results returned?

After your results are reviewed by on staff physicians your results will be mailed to you on a CD in a secure Adobe format or on paper in binders.  Most of our customers prefer the CD, which is more secure, easier for filing, allows for easier searching, and reduces paper work and office space. Your results will usually be returned within two weeks from first processing date.  We can also send you your results via email before your CD is mailed.

7.  I would be doing baselines on new hires and all the retests.  How do I send those results to you to be processed?

Because every client is accustomed to sending us information different ways, we would work out  something that best suits your needs.  We will accept the information by mail, email, fax, or electronically using the OccuScan program.  Once we received your data from the tests you handled, those results would be processed and your results could be immediately emailed to you and then you would receive a CD in the mail containing the results.

Understanding Noise

What is Noise?

What Can Noise Do To Me?

How Does Hearing Loss Occur?

How Is Noise Measured?

Protect Your Hearing Off The Job!

1. What is Noise?

Noise is any unwanted sound.  Noise can come from loud music, a chainsaw, machinery, guns, or motorcycles .

2. What Can Noise Do To Me?

Too much noise for long periods can cause permanent hearing loss.  You may be unaware of your hearing loss because a loss can occur gradually.  Noise induced hearing loss cannot be reversed.

3. How Does Hearing Loss Occur?

Sound enters your ears in sound waves.  These sound waves hit your eardrum and are converted to pressure changes in the inner ear.  This causes special nerves to impulse, which are read by your brain as sound.  When these nerves are exposed to a surplus of pressure changes, they may become damaged.  You may have noticed that if you listen to loud music for several hours that your ears “ring.”  This is a Temporary Threshold Shift,  or a temporary reduction in hearing.  Several hours of quiet will restore your hearing but if the noise is continually repeated, the hearing loss becomes permanent.  There is no medical treatment for this type of hearing loss and hearing aids may not help.

4. How Is Noise Measured?

Noise is measured by using Sound level Meters and other special devices.  Noise surveys are performed routinely and when major equipment changes are made.  You may be asked to wear a small device the size of a portable radio for the day to determine your actual noise exposure.  Since it is your legal right to know your noise exposure, a report showing your noise exposure is must be posted in your department.

5. Protect Your Hearing Off The Job!

Your ears don’t stop performing when you leave your job site!  That is why you should protect your hearing around the clock.  Here are some suggestions to use during after-work hours.

 1.      Use hearing protection at home.  Do you ever use a lawnmower, run a power saw, or blast the car stereo?  That’s the time to turn down the noise and/or use proper hearing protection.  The sounds you are exposed to off the job are just as potentially damaging as any noise you hear while at work.  Remember, the effects of overexposure to noise is cumulative.

2.
Fun and games require hearing protection, too.  If you have ever been to a rock concert, you know how noisy it can be.  And if you’ve ever been on a snowmobile, motorcycle, a wave runner, or motorboat, think of the noise you’ve had to endure.  Have you ever used a firearm or watched a fireworks display?  Sharp, loud outburst can hurt your hears just as continuous noise does.  Use protective equipment, even when you are having fun.
